Turning a SEED into a TREE (in nine verses)

Another poem based on a word-doublet solution:

A single SEED in restful peace
upon the WEED-infested ground,
without DEED to show, settled in
and began to FEED upon the soil,
to FEEL the moisture and the sun
until green tendrils like little FEET
emerged to FRET and kick the air
and, being FREE, took tender hold
to become in time a towering TREE.
